This exhibition delves into Medrano's history while embracing new perspectives, marking her first hometown showcase in over five years. Influenced by her Dominican heritage, the artist skillfully conveys themes of rebirth and homecoming through a personal and captivating photographic style.
The show's title is derived from a term in Dominican slang that means "moocher" or "leech." The WSA emphasizes the innovative and authentic nature of the work, stating: "LAMBÓN addresses a society that consistently exploits the artistic freedom they have, as Medrano challenges viewers to decide: will you be a trailblazer or a lambón?" During an exciting new period, the exhibition leads up to the release of ICE, Medrano's inaugural magazine. Drawing inspiration from her 2019 film "PELUCA," the artist foresees this forthcoming endeavor as a platform for women to embrace their authentic selves and delve into the surrealistic charm of ordinary existence.
